Why is Physical Education important to teenagers?

Physical Education is an integral part of the holistic education of pupils. It develops physical competence, health related fitness, self-responsibility and enjoyment of physical activity for all students so that they can be physically active for a lifetime.
Students from G1, Pre, G2 & AS level will receive a minimum of two periods of high quality physical activity each week. We offer a range of activities including; Basketball, Badminton, Football, Volleyball, Weight Training, Netball, Ultimate Frisbee, Rock Climbing and Aerobics, amongst other sports to achieve a broad and balanced curriculum. Through our diverse range of activities, pupils will learn skills such as becoming an autonomous learner, having the ability to work as a team or take a leading role, having an enhanced awareness of how to effectively communicate with others and increase their confidence to perform and succeed.

Who we are as PE department?
Within our department we have members from different countries bringing their expertise, knowledge and passion for physical activity, ensuring our pupils have the most fulfilling experience of Physical Education possible. Our professional team aims to develop pupils’ understanding, skill level and a love of learning through a safe, inclusive learning environment. We pride ourselves on our high standards and in opening pupils’ minds to what is often a new Physical Education experience.
In theoretical and practical aspects, what do we do at ULink Shanghai to enhance the physical strength of students?
At ULink Shanghai we offer Cambridge IGCSE PE which is a recognized course by Universities that is ideal for pupils who have a passion for all aspects of physical activity. This ranges from playing sport to the scientific and psychological analysis of the body and mind.
Students develop lifelong skills in planning, performance and evaluation which are relevant to a wide range of subjects studied at ULink and beyond.
The syllabus provides learners with an opportunity to study both the practical and theoretical aspects of Physical Education. It is designed to encourage enjoyment in physical activity by providing learners with an opportunity to take part in a range of physical activities and develop an understanding of effective and safe physical performance.
This helps learners to develop an appreciation and understanding of the principles, practices and training that underpin improved performance, better health and well-being.
