IGCSE - the International General Certificate of Secondary Education is the world's most popular international qualification for 15–17 year olds. It is offered in over 100 countries worldwide and is internationally recognized as being equivalent to the GCSE in the United Kingdom. Grading is on an eight-point scale (A*, A, B, C, D, E, F& U). In some countries, IGCSE qualifications will satisfy the entry requirements for university.

Cambridge IGCSE is an international curriculum that develops students' skills in creative thinking, inquiry and problem solving. Our campus offers a core compulsory subjects which are Chinese, English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

Students also choose some optional courses such as Business Studies, Economics, History, Geography, Arts, Music, Biology and Physical Education.

ULink College of Shanghai uses the IGCSE program to best prepare students for further study at Advanced level. These Advanced level qualifications are essential for entry into the world’s leading overseas universities. Grade C in IGCSE English (both First Language and Second Language) satisfies the English proficiency requirements of many universities in the UK, USA and other Anglophone countries.

The academic aim of the IGCSE program is to instill basic skills that students will require for Advanced level study and for their future higher education. Our key objectives are to enable students to:
• study, work and communicate in English
• develop specialized content knowledge and understanding
• be flexible and responsive to change
• develop an intellectual interest and sense of inquiry
• apply learned principles to actual real life situations
• develop research skills and critical thinking
• develop skills in persuasion, influencing and communication
• develop a global awareness of cultures
• develop self-awareness and empathy

Young teenagers who enter the ULink’s IGCSE program are exposed to a variety of courses in our program. This gains them a valuable head start in life. The subject-based syllabuses allow for much more than the transmission of knowledge necessary for further study or work. The courses promote meaningful engagement in real problems, and begin to develop the high-level skills that will differentiate our students from others who have not had the advantage of attending an IGCSE program. It is remarkable how quickly children become mature young men and women on graduation. Their world looks so different when one looks at it from a range of newly-learned and understood perspectives.

The overall program includes both academic and extra-curricular activities that aim to help each student develop and fulfill his/her own potential while recognizing and responding to the needs of others. ULink’s educational experience presents opportunities for students to experience the benefits of holistic growth and development that benefits them individually and ultimately benefits their communities.
